Today, Sam Reintjes, a Glee Club first-year and brother of recent graduate Jamie Reintjes, steps up to the plate to tell us about his first two experiences singing on that illustrious stage in front of Touchdown Jesus in a memorable first for him! How has his first concert with the club impacted him?

I was relatively scared for my first Glee Club Revue. What also didn’t help was that I didn’t have the uniform yet and didn’t know if I could get one before the concert – I was going to be some random guy on stage in shorts and a tee. On top of that, I was running behind. I get there, out of breath from running, and, to my relief, they have a shirt for me. They hand me a concert binder and we rehearse two songs. Dan said we were ready (although I did not feel so), and then an upperclassman gave a talk and rallied us. They did a good job, as the energy made me forget about my nerves.
Then, we walk over to the stage and begin our performance. The notes came easier than I thought they would, and I found myself having a blast. The way Glee Club performs with vigor and charisma rather than uncomfortable perfection made it much easier for me to find my footing. We were making it near the end when our president Ethan Dimaano called up the alumni. Before I knew it, my family-friend Peter Coors was arms-in-arms with me, belting the Alma Mater. The second Revue was less eventful, but the energy was still the same. Performing with the Glee Club has been one of my favorite activities so far at Notre Dame, and every day I am more thankful for my decision to join.
